Nine people, among them three students on their way back to school after mid-term break, were injured Tuesday after a Nissan Matatu they were traveling in rolled within River Tungu.
The nine, some critically injured, were rushed to Chuka County Referral Hospital for treatment.
The public service vehicle was enroute Meru from Nairobi lost control after one of its front tyres bust causing it to veer off the road.
Eye witnesses said the vehicle rolled severally and hit a tree before it was blocked a few metres to the river near Chuka University.
“The Nissan was speeding when it rolled severally and almost got into the river,” Susan Kinoti, an eye witness, said.
