A couple has been arrested on suspicion of killing their 26-year-old daughter at Sigulu village in Mbita, Homabay County.
The couple had earlier reported the death of Evelyne Akoth claiming that unknown attackers Monday night sneaked into their house and killed her.
The deceased body had deep cut in the neck and police could not ascertain at the time how she was killed and what transpired before the ugly incident.
A report made at Ogongo Police Station said there was a commotion in the house as the late was sleeping on the couch.
The couple while checking on the daughter found her lying on the floor dead.
But preliminary probe established that blood stains on the floor had been wiped before police officers arrived at the scene.
Further, investigators said, there were no signs of break in into the house whose steel door was intact.
Police believe the two could have had a hand in their daughter’s killing and are being treated as main suspects.
They are detained at Mbita Police Station as investigations continue.
