Mwangaza Primary headteacher Ndege Guyo has been arrested over failure to register two Class eight pupils as candidates for the just concluded KCPE exams.
The learners were shocked to learn that they had not been registered as candidates during last week’s rehearsals.
Their parents could not hold tears after they learnt that their children, boy and girl, who had put in a lot of hardwork in their studies would not sit for the exams.
Exam officials and the security team had earlier resolved to arrest the teacher before the start of the exams on Monday but opted to take action after the exams not to interfere with the exercise.
Mr Guyo allegedly deemed the pair as among the poor performers resolving not to register them with the Kenya National Examinations Council.
The teacher was arrested hours after KCPE exams were completed and is being detained at Isiolo Police Station. He will be arraigned Thursday (tomorrow).
The incident has caused uproar online with netizens castigating the teacher for exposing the learners to a lot of suffering.
“This is so sad. Who is he to choose the one to register or not and where did he get the powers from?” Becky Mutua shared on Facebook while demanding that the teacher be interdicted as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, 22 candidates, sixteen of them being girls, did not turn up for the exams.
Among the boys who missed the exams include one who was admitted in one of the hospitals and another detained at GK Prison where another of Wabera Primary sat his papers.
Security organs have also launched a manhunt for men who impregnated three girls who sat the exams while in hospital.
One of them delivered last week, another Tuesday morning and the third one was yet to give birth by the time the examinations were completed.
