I have come to the conclusion that President Uhuru Kenyatta understands this country like the back of his palms.
When on March 9, 2018 Uhuru shook hands with his earstwhile political competitor, ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, Kenyans who should know better took it as a betrayal to them and the ruling Jubilee Party.
When Uhuru agreed with Raila on the Building Bridge Initiative (BBI), people read selfish political and leadership motives on their part.
When Mt Kenya Business Forum threw its weight behind Uhuru and Raila political unity, some people threw tantrums and branded Raila as a State project.
When Uhuru and Raila parliamentary majority led efforts to ensure the Political Parties Coalition law was in place, some leaders desperately tried to scuttle the plan in vain.
When Uhuru and Raila are bringing together major regions and leaders to form a mammoth political coalition, some leaders are dismissive of those efforts.
Take Sagana 3 for instance, whereas Uhuru and Raila detractors are seeing Mt Kenya interests in the meeting, regions halo is discernible in such a forum.
For those who think that Sagana meetings are intended to only convince the people of Mt Kenya to support certain interests, they better think again.
In my view, every step or action that Uhuru has taken since the handshake is a political masterstroke, whose motives will be understood pretty soon when the country goes into elections later this year.
It is therefore unfortunate that some people have completely misunderstood Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. Those who have misread the President have an uncanny believe in the tyranny of numbers myth.
What the tyranny of numbers myth fail to appreciate is that the real tyranny of numbers is domiciled outside the Mountain region.
Arguably, the tyranny of numbers myth was invented in order to boost the morale of voters in Mt Kenya. Indeed, without widespread regional support no presidential candidate can win a free and fair election in this country.
I believe these free and fair values in elections are among the driving force behind what President Uhuru and Raila are doing.
Ultimately, Uhuru and Raila detractors will not appreciate such insights and the outcome will shock them in due course.
This is why when they see Mt Kenya business forum, some like yours truly see regional business fora, when they see Sagana 1, 2 and 3, we see Kenya 1, 2 and 3.
There is no gainsaying that Uhuru and Raila nationalism is bearing fruits.
Those with objective view of the political landscape will concur that most regions in the country are tilting towards Azimio side.
From where I sit, it appears like Mt Kenya and North Rift-Valley are likely to be the battleground for the final campaign onslaughts by both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza, which should worry the latter to the core.
Unfortunately, those who should know better are in political denial, completely oblivious of what is happening, driven by bloated egos and misplaced confidence.
Ultimately, Uhuru and Raila political game plan is difficult to be understood by those who scan political activities using linear dimensions.
