A woman in Nanyuki town has warmed the hearts of Kenyans after she rescued a nine-months-old baby who had been abandoned in the cold streets at night.
According to the woman only identified as Mary, she was on her way home when she spotted the baby along the road near DEB primary school.
Out of pity, she covered the baby with her leso and carried the child to her home before reporting the incident to a nearby Police post.
Residents have since gone to social media lauding Ms Mary for the kind gesture which they said was a clear indication that indeed good people still existed as other netizens condemned the inhuman act of abandoning an innocent baby.
“Having an attachment with a baby for 18 months then throw them away? Or was the baby abducted and the abductors feared being caught? All thanks to the lady, that’s an angel,” shared Ms Mary Macharia.
The residents have called upon the security team to fast track efforts to trace the baby’s mother.
