Fishermen at the Lake Victoria have appealed to Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to help reduce cases of attack by wild animals following the death of one of them who was killed by a hippopotamus.

A 54-year-old Michael Osano had gone fishing on Wednesday but failed to return home prompting a search by his family and friends.

A boat that he was using was recovered on Thursday before his bad that had serious injuries was found in the beach.

Rachuonyo North Sub-County police boss Nelson Omwenga urged the residents to be careful while near the lake saying that KWS officers were on the ground assessing the situation.
