Police in Lamu County have commenced probe into the killing of six people and destruction of property of unknown value by suspected Al-Shabaab attackers at Witho area in Lamu West Sub-County on Monday.
Reports indicate that on receiving information over the attack from a local village elder, police officers rushed to the scene where they found bodies of Joseph Mwangi, Francis Kamau, John Murimi and his three casuals identified as Peter Musyoka, Maina Wanjege and Peter Maina.
Mr Murimi, Musyoka, Wanjege and Maina’s bodies were recovered at Murimi Mangwe den and were burnt beyond recognition when they were recovered.
Mr Mwangi who was also a village elder was reportedly beheaded at his home and stabbed severally on the stomach before the attackers torched his house, while Kamau’s body was discovered along the road within the shopping centre bearing gunshot wounds on the head.
Manhunt for the attackers is ongoing.
