Royal Media Services Founder and Chair Dr Samuel Kamau Macharia popularly known as SK Macharia has told off leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto for claiming that his media companies were leaning towards one political divide.
A section of the leaders have in the recent past claimed that Dr Macharia’s Media stations were favouring ODM Leader Raila Odinga over Dr Ruto in terms of airtime offered in their news broadcasts.
But the proprietor during the Azimio la Umoja Summit at Kasarani grounds said by supporting Mr Odinga, he was only exercising his constitutional right to political participation as a responsible and free citizen.
“I stand before you here today in my personal capacity as a participant and witness to many struggles in our country… I have for many years taken courageous, honest, open and public step of making clear separation between myself and my businesses,” he said.
SK said his political views and preferences were completely independent of his businesses which he said were being managed by impartial and highly competent professionals.
Dr Macharia also drummed support for Mr Odinga’s presidential bid.
