Four people have died, several injured and an unknown number of livestock stolen after armed bandits invaded herders at a grazing field in Elgeyo-Marakwet County on Saturday.
Police reports indicate that over 40 bandits suspected to have come from neighboring Baringo County ambushed the herders killing the four on spot.
According to County police boss Patrick Lumumba, the suspects had been spotted a day earlier along Kerio Valley but the police were not informed to take necessary action that would avert the crime.
Mr Lumumba urged the locals to report to the law enforcers anytime they spot a suspicious group to ensure action is taken on time.
It is alleged that several bandits have been escaping the ongoing security operation in Laikipia County raising fear and tension in neighboring pastoral counties.
Police have launched manhunt for the criminals who are suspected to have crossed Kerio River to Baringo County after the attack.
The attack comes barely three days after another group attacked the same area and left with over 40 animals.
