Devolution Principal Secretary Julius Korir is set to be charged for reportedly assaulting his wife over food after a court gave the Director of Public Prosecutions greenlight to proceed with the trial.

The PS reportedly assaulted Everlyne Chepkorir Koech on September 17 last year after she told him that there was no food and that the only available one was for children.

A CCTV footage obtained by police showed the PS assaulting the wife.

The High Court has quashed a January 7, 2021 temporary order that had suspended Mr Korir’s arrest and prosecution.

Justice Anthony Mrima also dismissed Mr Korir’s argument that the criminal charges were meant to embarrass him and force him into surrendering 50 percent of his property.

Mr Korir will after taking plea be required to step aside until the case is concluded.
