The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) wants Health CS Mutahi Kagwe to apologize for allegedly exposing the results of a test taken by a group of nurses recently selected to work in the UK under a new scheme requested by the government.
CS Kagwe, during the Kenya Clinical Officers Association scientific conference in Mombasa, revealed that only 10 out of the 300 nurses who sat for the English test performed well.
According to the union, the CS had no right to publicly announce the results as they were private and therefore should have been handled that way.
KNUN Deputy Secretary General Morris Opetu accused the CS of undermining the nurses and exposing them to their colleagues.
The union maintained that it was unfortunate that they were subjected to an English proficiency test while their Cuban colleagues working in the country were not subjected to English or Swahili tests.
