Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti was forced to leave the podium after a group of youths booed him while introducing other Governors during Raila Odinga’s visit of Isiolo.
Dr Kuti, who had earlier been shouted at by irate youths in Isiolo town, was forced to submit to demands of the crowd that his predecessor Godana Doyo addresses them.
Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi was forced to take over as the MC while Governor Kuti, who had sat next to Mr Odinga, watched from the sideways.
Governors Ali Korane and Wycliffe Oparanya of Garissa and Kakamega and Treasury CS Ukur Yattani were forced to cut short their speeches as their Nakuru counterpart Lee Kinyanjui got the audience.
Dr Kuti had initially been booed several minutes after he arrived in Mr Odinga’s convoy disrupting the meeting for several minutes. Suna East MP Junnet Mohammed managed to calm the crowd saying they only came to visit and had leaders from different parts of the country.
“We have brought you leaders from all over the country so we kindly request that you stay calm and listen to them,” he said.
Mr Odinga who was on a tour to popularize his 2022 presidential bid through his Azimio la Umoja slogan was given the audience as calm resumed.
It is suspected that the disruption was retaliatory following last weekend’s DP Ruto’s meeting where youths protested outside Isiolo Catholic Church where he attended a church service before addressing a rally in town.
