Garissa County is grappling with inadequate space as the County Referral Hospital Mortuary is filled with uncollected bodies.

The facility, with capacity of 12, has been holding 11 bodies that have not been collected for three months. It is suspected that some of the bodies were carried from different parts of the County and outside by water while others were collected after attacks.

Police bosses from the area have advised the health officials to seek court orders that will allow them to bury the bodies in a public cemetery.

The police maintained that they followed all the guidelines calling upon residents with missing relatives to report but no they were yet to identify the bodies.
