The Oldonyiro Secondary School teacher who claimed to have been assaulted by students was attacked by unknown people while on his way home from a police canteen in Oldonyiro trading centre.
Officials maintained that the teacher was not attacked within the school compound as was alleged but within Oldonyiro town around midnight on June 30, 2021 (Wednesday).
Reports indicate that Mr Gaichu Mugambi was drunk at the time of the incident and was hit with a blunt object sustaining injuries on the face.
The teacher who has been at the school for three years and six months was rushed by his colleagues to Nanyuki in Laikipia for treatment after showing up at the school on Thursday morning with a swollen eye.
The incident was reported vide OB No 05/1/7/2021.
An official who did not want to be named said an eye witness is set to record statement with police tomorrow (Friday) as investigations into the matter continue.
Isiolo County Director of Education Dr Hussein Koryow rubbished claims that the teacher was roughed up by students maintaining that the incident happened around 11:30pm.
