Some Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) officers who had been abducted by suspected bandits within Kom at the border of Isiolo and Samburu while on their way to Merti have been rescued after going missing for more than 10 hours.
Reports indicate that the unknown number of officers were reportedly ambushed while changing one of their tyres.
It is however not clear whether they were indeed changing the tyre or it was shot by the bandits or whether they were abducted or scampered for their safety on seeing the bandits.
The incident occured on Friday evening with thesearch starting hours they were reported missing.
Police sources told The Press Point that two officers were rescued on the wee hours of Saturday morning.
The incident is allegedly linked to the recent clash between two groups of herders where six people were killed and the ongoing 10-day-operation to smoke out armed herders grazing their livestock within Buffalo Springs Game reserve.
Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi said the two officers working with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) had been rescued but did not divulge further details.
