The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has been prohibited from revealing why President Uhuru Kenyatta rejected six judges who were part of the 41 recommended for appointment.

The Head of State rejected elevation of Justices George Odunga, Prof Joel Ngugi, Aggrey Muchelule, Evans Makori, Judith Omange and Weldon Korir citing integrity issues.

High Court Judge James Makau on Wednesday barred JSC from considering any petition for removal of the six judges and publicising any report that could tarnish their integrity.

Further, JSC should not on its own initiate or interfere with the functions of the six judges based on President Kenyatta’s alleged report.

The court also barred the Commission from convening any meeting to discuss or recommend action against the judicial officers.

The orders were issued following a petition filed by Lawyer Bernard Okello challenging the President’s decision.

The order will stay in force until the case is determined, the court directed.
