Thirty six (36) candidates have been shortlisted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel for the four commissioners posts that fell vacant following resignation of four officers between 2017 and 2018.
The commissioners who resigned were Roselyn Akombe, Dr Paul Kurgat, Margaret Mwachanya and Connie Nkatha.
The 36, according to a notice by Panel’s Chair Dr Elizabeth Muli seen by the Press Point, were selected from some 660 applicants with the youngest being 23 years old.
Among those in the list is the former Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) Chair Kagwiria Mbogori and her predecessor Florence Simbiri Jaoko and Law Society of Kenya Vice President Harriette Chiggai.
Others in the list are Zippy Nzisa Musyimi, Timothy Tipila, Simeon Pkiyach Pkatey, Sellestine Anna, Dr Salim Ndemo, Col Saeed Khamees, Roseline Doreen Adhiambo, Dr Rose Mumbua, Prof Richard Okoth Oduor, Naisiae Paloshe Tobiko, Murshid Abdalla Mohammed, Prof Michael Napoo Ilukwol, Prof Maurice N. Amutabi and Amb. Lucy Jebet Chelimo.
Kenyans have until June 25 to submit memoranda against or for support of the nominees ahead of the interviews.
Other shortlisted candidates are Amb. Koki Muli Grignon, Justus Maithya Munyithya, Dr Joseph Kang’ethe, Julius Kiplagat Rotich, Justus Abonyo Nyang’aya, Juliana Cherera, Prof Joseph Gitile Naituli, Irene Cherop Masit, Francis M. Wanderi, Irene Keino, Ex-Gwassi MP Felix Useru Nyauchi, Abdalla Mohamed, Dr Abdirizak Arale Nunow, Caroline E. Njeri, Dr Dinah Jeruto Kipkebut, Cecilia Ngoyoni, Con Omore Osendo, Dr Catherine Muchiru Kamindo and Anne Mwikali Kiusya.
