The killing of Isiolo man shot dead by an attacker who was riding on motorbike in Isiolo town on Saturday night was a well planned execution.
The 28-year old Mohammed Diba, who was together with two friends, was shot on the chest and neck severally near Isiolo Referral Hospital where he had parked the car he was driving.
Worrying is the fact that the assassin, according to police, attacked while the slain man was getting out of the car and minutes after one of his friends had gotten out of the vehicle.
Police officers did not recover any spent cartridge on the material night though one of the officers privy to the ongoing probe intimated that one had been recovered by Sunday evening.
Mr Diba was pronounced dead on arrival at the nearby Referral Hospital.
Police sources say he had several pending drug trafficking cases in court.
He is said to have been among the three civilians who were nabbed in May last year together with two General Service Unit officers while transporting about 600 Kilograms bhang, worth Sh15 million at Gotu area in far-flung Merti Sub-County.
The three were in a Toyota Prado vehicle trailing behind the government vehicle that the two officers were ferrying the consigment in. Some narcotics were recovered from the personal vehicle.
Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander George Kariuki on Sunday confirmed that the deceased had some active drug trafficking cases in court and said investigation into the killing were ongoing to ensure the culprits are brought to book.
