Some 98, 793 Tharaka Nithi residents had been registered under the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) by Monday according to the county commissioner Beverly Opwora.
Some of the areas where locals are turning up in low numbers include Tharaka North and some parts of Maara constituency but the administrator stressed that they had come up with proper measures to reach out to all the county residents.
The exercise will close on Saturday May 18 and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has already warned that that the government will not extend the registration period for Huduma Namba past then.
At least 31 million people had registered by Monday this week.
So far, Opwora said 364, 707 Tharaka Nithi residents had been registered translating to about 78.6 percent out of the targeted population of 463, 500 people.
The administrator stressed that the registration will enable the government plan and offer services more efficiently.
Some registration assistants have already been deployed at local tea buying centers to register women taking their crop there, she said.
Ms Opwora appealed to parents to provide their children with documents to facilitate their registration noting that quite a big number in primary, secondary schools and colleges had not been registered.
The administrator also pleaded with members of Kabonokia sect to avail themselves and their children for registration at the respective centres arguing that doing so would enable them easily access quality and fast government services.
