Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has suspended all non-essential services for one month to stem the spread of Covid-19 after five county officials contracted the disease.

Staff offering essential services like health, finance, firefighting, water, emergency services, garbage collection and revenue will continue working from the county offices as the non-essential ones work from home.

The move is also believed to have been advised by the recent death of Moses Muturi, the Director of the Housing department.

In the last Friday’s statement, Mr Kahiga also directed that staff aged 58 years and above start working from home.
