Isiolo county has rolled out vaccination of health care workers against the novel Coronavirus.
Health Chief officer Ibrahim Alio confirmed that the county had received 1500 doses of the vaccine to vaccinate more than 1000 direct health care workers and support staff from all the health facilities.
Mr Alio said the vaccination will be done at the Isiolo Referral Hospital and Merti and Garbatulla Level Four hospitals and that health workers will be facilitated to travel to the nearest hospital for the jab.
Speaking to journalists after receiving the 150 multidose vials of ChAd0x1 nCoV-19, Mr Alio said the health workers will be sensitized before the inoculation starts off so that the exercise runs smoothly.
The official said two health workers had already been trained by the Ministry of Health on how to administer the jab and will train other workers in the county.
“We have received 150 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine for vaccinating our health care workers and support staff across all our health facilities,” Mr Alio said.
He asked the workers to take the jab saying they were at higher risk of contracting the disease.
“Our people should not relax on the health protocols on hygiene, social distancing and wearing of masks,” he appealed.
