Isiolo Parents Association Chair Ismael Galma has called for concerted efforts from all to ensure girls impregnated during the Covid-19 long holiday report back to school.
The official said like expectant girls, boys trapped in drug and substance abuse, should also be tracked so that their education is not cut short.
Mr Galma said girls still at home were at high risk of being married off and dropping out from school if the process to have them back to school is not expedited.
He asked parents to comply with the government’s directive to have all learners back to school saying the expectant girls too have the right to education and should not be hidden at home.
The official expressed fears that a big number of learners still trapped in drug addiction and boys who had ventured into bodaboda business might not continue with their education if necessary and immediate interventions are not introduced.
“The Isiolo county government should establish temporal rescue and rehabilitation centres where the addicts could be managed and helped recover so that they resume learning,” he said.
