Magutuni residents in Tharaka Nithi were treated to rude shock after a suspected witch doctor and his client killed a Grade Two girl for ritual minutes after calling her from an adjacent church to run errands for him.
Worshippers at the church, who reportedly heard the girl’s cries as the service went on and did not bother to find out what was happening, were shocked to later find the mutilated body of the nine-year-old and her chopped head hidden in the witch’s house.
Suleiman Mati and his client who were eating meat when the residents ambushed them after the service turned violent when asked of the girl’s whereabouts prompting the irate faithful to alert police.
The girl, who residents said had been delivering milk to the old man daily, had reportedly been called by the witch doctor to pick some milk bottles.
On arrival at the home, police officers recovered the girl’s severed head hidden in the chicken house and her body stashed in a gunny bag in one of the rooms and collected two blood-stained machetes.
More worrying is that the girl’s heart was missing and the three slaughtered chickens that the residents found at the witch’s home had no hearts.
The two suspects are being held at Ntumu Police Station as police launch investigations into the weird incident.
Police officers who visited the scene told the Press Point that inside the witch doctor’s house was a slaughtered chicken and witchcraft paraphernalia.
