Ameru elders in Isiolo have told off individuals pushing Wabera MCA Salesio Kiambi to align with Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan Guyo, saying the leader serves all communities in the Cosmopolitan ward , not just the Amerus.
Led by County Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders Chairperson Daniel Manyara, the elders accused politicians from Meru County of interfering with Isiolo politics.
“Kiambi is not just an Ameru MCA. Those attacking him are voters from Meru, not Wabera,” Manyara said.
His sentiments were echoed by the Council’s Secretary Ignatius Nchabari who dismissed recent statements by individuals claiming to speak on behalf of the community.
“Those elders were paid. They don’t represent us. They are pushing selfish agenda and we will not allow that to continue happening,” Nchabari said.
He added that poor governance had left Isiolo in crisis and urged leaders to focus on development, not handouts.
“We need a rehabilitation center to help reform our youth who are trapped in drugs. We need functioning health facilities, passable roads and a stable economy,” he said.
They called out Governor Guyo for allegedly paying a section of MCAs to support his interests instead of channelling the money to development.
Elder Stanley Kubai claimed the Governor had failed to deliver any tangible development in Isiolo, exposing residents to untold suffering.
“Guyo is an absentee Governor. He operates from Nairobi and we wonder whether he works for us or Nairobi residents. He is busy chasing MCAs with money instead of working,” he said.
Ameru Turiamwe Chairperson Paul Mugambi said the community had agreed that Kiambi would not work with Governor Guyo until the latter delivers the promises he made to the electorates.
He supported calls for reintroduction of an impeachment motion saying the county boss had failed to deliver.
“If there’s a single project he has initiated, let him name it. Isiolo money is being pocketed by a few individuals,” Mugambi said.
The elders vowed to resist any external manipulation, saying Isiolo’s leadership should be shaped by its residents.
The sentiments come amid rising political temperatures with a section of residents from the community calling on MCA Kiambi to join the faction led by Governor Guyo.
